Andrejs Štolcers played for Fulham from 2000 until 2004 as a midfielder. Used as either a left sided player or an attacking central player, he was a Latvian international who made over 80 caps. Often struggling to get into the team during his time at the club, he was eventually released.

Career[]

Before Fulham[]

Making his name in Latvia, he played first team football for Olimpija Rīga where he earned the first of his 81 caps in 1994. After moving to Skonto Riga, Andrejs signed for Shakhtar Donetsk in 1997.

He spent a little over three years in Ukraine before he made the move to England.

Fulham (2000-2004)[]

Andrejs signed for Fulham for a fee of £2 million on 17 November 2000. His debut for the first team came a few weeks later, where he scored a goal in a 3-1 win away at West Bromwich Albion.

He made 15 league appearances in the 2000-01 season, and Fulham were promoted to the Premier League for the first time in the clubs' history. Due to this, Jean Tigana had brought in many new faces to compete at the higher level and Andrejs was only ever seen as a backup player from this moment forward.

In the three seasons from 2001 to 2004, he made only 16 more appearances, nearly all from the bench. His only goals in this period came when he bagged a brace against Bury in a 3-1 win in the third round of the League Cup during 2002-03.

He was released in the summer of 2004 upon the end of his contract.

After Fulham[]

Andrejs signed for Yeovil Town shortly after his release from Fulham, and spent the 2004-05 season with the League Two outfit, helping them to the title.

He played out the remainder of his playing career with a short spell in Azerbaijan with FK Baku, then returing to Latvia to play for his former club Skonto Riga and JFK Olimps, before a return to England to play non-league football with Bath City and Hayes & Yeading United.
