Ashkan Dejagah was a midfielder at Fulham from 2012 until 2014. Signed in the summer transfer window of 2012 for £2.2 million from Wolfsburg, he was mainly used as a right winger who occasionally switched over to the left and always posed an attacking threat. A German national, Degajah was born in Iran and represents them internationally despite playing for Germany's U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams. After an impressive season and World Cup, Ashkan moved to Al-Arabi for around £5.5 million.

Career[]

Before Fulham[]

Fulham (2012-2014)[]

Ashkan signed for the club on transfer deadline day in August 2012 for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of just over £2 million. Upon joining, it took him nearly two months to gain match fitness following a slight injury, but eventually made his debut coming off the bench in a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Craven Cottage. Throughout his first season, he was used by Martin Jol sparingly, often utilising him as an impact sub more than anything. His pace and dribbling abilities were on show at times, and he began to win the Fulham fans over after some initial criticism regarding his fitness.

The following season did not get off to the best of starts for Ashkan as he struggled for fitness once more and other than a match away to Burton Albion in the League Cup, he was left out of all squads by Martin Jol until November, when Fulham met Manchester United. It was only after Jol had left and René Meulensteen had taken over when Ashkan began to thrive in the right wing position, with some impressive displays including a man of the match performance in the 3-0 win over Norwich in an FA Cup tie. After Meulensteen's departure, he became a crucial part of new (and former) manager Felix Magath's plans. He scored important goals during Fulham's relegation battle such as strikes in a 1-1 draw at West Brom, a 1-0 victory against Newcastle United and in a 2-2 draw at home to Hull.

Following a strong season despite Fulham's relegation, followed by a good display during the World Cup the following summer, he moved to Qatari side Al-Arabi for around £5.5 million in late July 2014.
