Claudio Ranieri was the manager of Fulham from 14 November 2018 until 28 February 2019. His reign was one of the shortest of any Fulham manager in history, second only to René Meulensteen. In a disastrous spell in charge, he failed to live up to the expectations that some had set out on him.
Playing career[]
A full back, Claudio initially played for his boyhood club of Roma, in which he managed six first team appearances between 1973 and 1974. He left to join Catanzaro where he spent eight years, making over 200 League appearances for the side, before spending his final four seasons playing with Catania and then Palermo. He retired from playing in 1986 at the age of 35.
Managerial career[]
Before Fulham[]
Fulham (2018-2019)[]
Claudio was appointed as Fulham manager shortly after Slaviša Jokanović was announced as sacked on 14 November 2018. The club lay at the bottom of the Premier League following on from their promotion season of 2017-18, and results did not improve under the Italian. Despite an early 3-2 victory over Southampton at Craven Cottage, he only managed two more victories in his time at the club and was sacked on 28 February 2019, replaced by then first team coach and former player Scott Parker in a caretaker role until the end of the season. However, Fulham were relegated back to the Championship for the 2019-20 season.
