Devan Tanton currently plays for Fulham as a defender. A right back, he represents Colombia at international level, having previously represented United States.
Devan was born in United States but moved to Spain at a young age and played for UE Cornellà, whose first team played in the third tier of Spanish football. It was whilst he was playing here that started getting selected for the United States as he was selected for the U15 age group. He then progressed into their U17 age group in 2020.
Fulham (2021-present)[]
Devan moved to England and joined Fulham's academy on 4 January 2021, just as he turned 17. He made his debut for the U18 squad on 16 January 2021, as he started in a 4-1 loss away at Crystal Palace U18.
Later in July 2021, he signed a two-year scholarship with the club. He immediately impressed the academy staff that he was handed the captain's armband for the U18 squad in 2021-22. Devan received his first red card of his career during a 3-2 win away at Brighton U18, when he was sent off in the first half after two early yellow cards.
On 2 September 2022, Devan moved on loan to Walton & Hersham in a deal that would last until the new year. He then switched international allegiance to Colombia and was called up to their U20 squad the same month, making his debut away to Dominican Republic U20.
Devan made his first team debut as a late substitute during a 3-1 win at Ipswich Town in an EFL Cup tie on 1 November 2023. The following month, he made his full international debut for Colombia, coming on as a substitute in a 1-0 win over Venezuela.
He went on to win the 2023-24 Johnny Haynes Trophy, a prize awarded for being voted the best academy player of the season by players and staff. He was later rewarded again with a new two-year contract signed in July 2024, before heading out on a season-long loan to Chesterfield of League Two for 2024-25 alongside teammate Harvey Araujo. However, after only eight league appearances for the Spireites, the deal was cut short in January 2025 and he returned to Fulham.
