Djed Spence played at Fulham's academy as a defender until 2018. Mainly utilised as a right back, he signed a scholarship deal with the club in 2016 and left to sign for Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018.
Career[]
Before Fulham[]
Fulham (?-2018)[]
Having played for the academy prior, Djed signed a two year scholarship deal on 1 July 2016 and joined up with the U18 squad where he spent most of his time with the club.
In 2017-18, he made 6 appearances for the U23 squad, including making a professional debut in the EFL Trophy in a 3-2 loss away at Charlton Athletic on 1 November 2017.
After Fulham's first team were promoted to the Premier League in May 2018, it was clear that Djed's chances of progressing were limited, and he chose to leave at the end of his contract.
After Fulham[]
Djed signed a professional deal with Middlesbrough on 1 July 2018 on a free transfer.
He progressed into their first team in 2019-20, and earned himself the EFL's Young Player of the Month for December 2019.
Djed was sent out on loan for the duration of the 2021-22 season to Nottinghm Forest, where he impressed once again and helped them achieve promotion to the Premier League through the Play-offs. This led him to a big move to Tottenham Hotspur a couple of months later for £20 million. This move did not initially work out for Djed and he quickly found himself out of favour and joined Ligue 1 side Rennes on loan for the remainder of the 2022-23 season on 31 January 2023.
