The EFL Championship is a competition run by the English Football League which dates back to the original First Division that began back in the 1888-89 season. It became a second tier competition once the Premier League had started in 1992-93, and then had a name change to it's current incarnation from the 2004-05 season to the present.

Fulham's first appearance in the second tier under the guise of the Championship was the 2014-15 season, after their relegation from the Premier League following a thirteen year stay in the top flight. The transition came as a shock for the Whites as they struggled to make an impression in their first two seasons in the Championship. Success followed under Slaviša Jokanović with a Play-off finish in 2016-17 and promotion from the Play-off's in 2017-18.

After a brief return to the Premier League, they were relegated back down to the Championship for 2019-20, in which Scott Parker succeeded in another Play-off promotion for the club.

Fulham stormed to the title in 2021-22, as they managed a staggering 106 goals - Aleksandar Mitrović grabbing a record 43 for the season. They also managed the remarkable feat of registering a 7-0 scoreline on three occasions, two of which in away fixtures.
