Emile Smith Rowe currently plays for Fulham as an attacking midfielder or left winger. Signed for a club record fee from his boyhood club Arsenal in 2024, he has represented England at full international level.
Career[]
Before Fulham[]
Emile joined Arsenal's academy at the age of ten, making his first appearance for the U18's at just fourteen, and his debut for the U23's at just sixteen. He signed his first professional contract on 31 July 2017, one year before signing a new five year contract.
He made his competitive debut for Arsenal's first team as an 18-year old in the Europa League, and after a few more appearances he was sent on loan to German side RB Leipzig in January 2019. Here he only managed three league appearances, in part down to a groin injury that he was struggling with. The following January, he was sent out on loan once more, this time to Championship side Huddersfield Town, where he managed 19 appearances and two goals; his first coming against Fulham during a 3-2 win for the Whites.
Upon returning to Arsenal he begun making his real breakthrough into the team under Mikel Arteta, where he was entrusted with the number 10 shirt ahead of the 2020-21 season. It would be the 2021-22 season however where he would enjoy his best season with the Gunners, making 33 league appearances, scoring 10 goals. However, a groin injury would keep him out for the first half of the following season, and though he was re-integrated into the side towards the tailend of the campaign, his chances were now limited in the team. This carried through into the 2023-24 season, where he only managed 13 league appearances.
Fulham (2024-present)[]
Emile signed for Fulham on 2 August 2024, for a reported fee of £27 million that would rise to £34 million with add-ons; a record club fee on a five-year contract that would run until the summer of 2029.
After a short pre-season with the club in which he scored two goals in two games, he made his official debut on the opening day of the Premier League, in a 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford. He scored his first league goal for the club in a 2-1 win over Leicester City in his first appearance at Craven Cottage the following week.
