Luca Murphy played for Fulham's academy from 2019 until 2021. A centre back signed in March 2019 from Hartlepool United, he failed to break into the first team and was released aged 19.
Luca joined Hartlepool United at the age of 9 years old and progressed through their academy to their U18 squad.
Fulham (2019-2021)[]
Luca signed for Fulham on 29 March 2019 and joined up with the U18 squad for the remaining few matches of the 2018-19 season. He made his debut for them several days after signing, as he played out the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 defeat to Brighton U18 at Motspur Park.
Luca failed to break into the first team and was released in the summer of 2021.
After Fulham[]
In August 2021, news broke that Luca's old club Hartlepool United were going to launch legal action against Fulham as they seeked compensation for which they were never paid. Fulham claimed that as Luca's contract was mutually terminated in the days prior to his signing he was a free agent and thus no fee was payable. However, Hartlepool claimed that as Luca wanted the move to Fulham, he did not attend training sessions and college classes, thus forcing them to terminate his contract. In April 2022, Hartlepool were awarded a six-figure sum by the Professional Football Compensation Committee relating to his signing for Fulham over two years earlier.
