Matt Targett is a defender who played for Fulham on loan from Southampton in 2018. Plying his trade as a left back and occasional winger, he was signed for the remainder of 2017-18 in the January transfer window. An England youth international up to U21 level, he is also eligible to represent Scotland.
Career[]
Before Fulham[]
Matt joined Southampton aged 8 years old and has remained at the club ever since, working his way up to the first team.
Fulham (2018)[]
Matt joined Fulham on 22 January 2018 on a loan deal which would see him stay at Craven Cottage until the end of the season. It was a move that enabled an ever-improving Ryan Sessegnon to change from a full back to a winger.
Matt scored his first professional goal away to Bolton Wanderers after a close range header early in a 1-1 draw on 10 February 2018.
He enjoyed a fantastic stay at Craven Cottage, during which a club record 23 league games unbeaten culminated in a Play-off Final victory at Wembley Stadium that saw Fulham return to the Premier League.
