Michael Olakigbe is a winger who played for Fulham's academy from 2018 until 2022. Eligible for Nigeria, he has represented England up to U20 level and is capable of playing on either flank.
Michael was playing grass roots football until his signature by Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2017. After only one season with them, his impressive performances were noticed by the scouts of Fulham, and he moved there the following summer.
Fulham (2018-2022)[]
Michael made his debut for the U18 squad on 4 January 2020, as he played the full 90 minutes in a 4-1 loss away at Tottenham Hotspur U18.
He scored his first goal for the U18's the following month in a 4-1 win at Reading U18. He was later called up to an England U17 training camp in March 2021, making his international debut coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 friendly win over Watford U23.
After Fulham[]
It was announced by the club that Michael had been signed by Brentford on 29 July 2022 for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £500,000 with sell-on clauses. After making his first team debut in the Premier League and making several appearances off the bench in 2023-24, he joined Peterborough United on loan for the rest of the season on 30 January 2024.
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, Michael signed for Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan, joining up with former-Fulham alumni Steven Sessegnon & Tyrese Francois. Unfortunately, he broke his fibula early in pre-season which would keep him out of action for a period of time.
