The Premier League is a competition which started at the commencement of the 1992-93 season as the top-flight division in England. It was created following the decision of clubs in the Football League First Division to break away from The Football League, which was originally founded in 1888, and take advantage of a lucrative television rights deal. It has evolved since its inception, and has enjoyed success as one of the strongest leagues in the world, with many players aspiring to play in it.

Following Fulham's promotion from the First Division in 2000-01, they made their debut appearance in the Premier League the following season in 2001-02. They spent a total of 13 seasons within the league despite very close escapes from relegation in 2006-07 and 2007-08, though it caught up with them in 2013-14, where the club had used three managers and 39 players in a desperate struggle to stay up. Unfortunately it meant relegation to the Championship for new owner Shahid Khan. They spent four seasons in the Championship before a Play-off Final victory saw them return to the Premier League in the 2018-19 season.

Their return to the top flight lasted just one season, as the club were relegated back to the Championship for 2019-20. However, they bounced straight back once more, again with a Play-off Final victory against West London rivals Brentford. Another back-to-back relegation and promotion would later happen in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
