Sakari Mattila was a midfielder who played for Fulham from 2015 until 2016. A defensive midfielder, he was a signing out of left-field when Kit Symons secured his signature in August 2015 from Aalesunds FK. He has represented his native Finland on several occasions since his first appearance in 2014. After Kit Symons was sacked as manager, he did not feature in new manager Slaviša Jokanović' plans and his contract was ended by mutual consent in August 2016.
Career[]
Before Fulham[]
Fulham (2015-2016)[]
The club announced on the 4 August 2015 that Sakari had signed for Fulham on a two-year deal, making his debut as a second half substitute in a 1-0 victory away to Wycombe Wanderers in the first round of the League Cup on 11 August 2015. After only sporadic appearances under Kit Symons, most of which from the substitutes bench, Sakari found game time even harder to come by when new head coach Slaviša Jokanović was in charge.
He did not feature in Fulham's pre-season of 2016-17, and after he was not handed a squad number his contract was terminated by mutual consent on 8 August 2016 and he left the club.
