Terence Kongolo played for Fulham from 2020 until 2024. Initially on loan from Huddersfield Town before an injury quickly ended the spell, he joined permanently later in the year though this was also an injury-plagued spell. Mainly a centre back, he was capable of playing on the left side of defence and had represented the Netherlands at full intenational level.

Career

Fulham (2020-2024)

Terence signed for Fulham on 16 January 2020 on a loan deal that would run until the end of the season. He made his debut in a tricky away FA Cup tie to Manchester City in which Fulham endured a 4-0 loss.

Unfortunately for Terence and Fulham, he picked up a foot injury only two matches into his loan spell, which later needed surgery to fix. He was deemed out for the season and returned to his parent club Huddersfield to recover.

In the early stages of the 2020-21 season, he was reported to be close to a move to Sheffield United, though a failed medical prevented the move from happening. On the last day of the domestic transfer window on 16 October 2020, he signed for Fulham permanently for a fee thought to be around £4 million plus add-ons.

His foot injury took until December 2020 before he was back to full training, however, he had another setback with a calf injury which kept him out for another month. He finally returned to playing when he started in a 2-0 win against QPR in the FA Cup on 9 January 2021. He then would play out a full 90 minutes for the first time in a Fulham shirt three months later in a League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, he sustained another injury during the match which kept him out for the remainder of the season.

He carried this injury into the 2021-22 season, which was now under the stewardship of Marco Silva. He returned from injury to play for the U23 squad in October 2021 with a view to gain match fitness, with a view to being integrated back into the first team squad.

However, this never happened and Terence was subsequently frozen out of the first team picture and, along with Josh Onomah, Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert, did not travel with the first team to their pre-season preparations in Portugal in July 2022. It was later reported that Terence was training with Stoke City during this time in order to look to secure a move to the Potters, but the move did not materialise.

Terence joined Le Havre on a season-long loan deal on 1 September 2022, followed by another loan in 2023-24 to Rapid Wien on the same day a year later. As expected, he was released from his contract in the summer of 2024.
