Overview [ ]
The U18's 2013-14 season began as reigning champions from the previous season, and for the first time, looked to return to the Dallas Cup in the United States as champions. The FA had once again reshuffled the format of the league competition; this year there were two tables of North and South regions. Fulham would compete in the South table, playing 10 sides both home and away. Additionally they would play each side from the North table once. The top two sides in each table would then meet in a play-off competition to determine the national champions.
Fulham finished 4th in the table, a position that would have not doubt been higher had they not participated in the Dallas Cup tournament in April 2013. This, added to the progression to the Final of the FA Youth Cup also meant that extremely young teams were fielded for the last six league matches of the season which hampered a top two finish.
As mentioned, a successul run through to the FA Youth Cup final was the achievement of the season by far, and narrowly lost out a two-legged affair to rivals Chelsea . An U19 side sent to defend their Dallas Cup tital from the previous season was less impressive as the team failed to progress from the group stage.
Stand-out performers included Patrick Roberts and Moussa Dembélé , who would both go on to make first team appearances in the same season; the latter finishing as top scorer for the U18's with a staggering 26 goals in 20 appearances.
