Wes Foderingham played in Fulham's academy as a goalkeeper from 2000 until 2010. He represented several England age groups up to U19 level whilst at the club.
Career[]
Before Fulham[]
Fulham (2000-2010)[]
Wes joined the club as a 9 year-old in 2000, progressing through the age groups until he earned his first professional contract with the club in 2009. He was handed a squad number of 39 for the 2009-10 season. He was sent out on loan to Bromley in 2010 for his first taste of men's football.
With an abundance of goalkeepers within the club, Wes was released in the summer of 2010 with no way through to the first team.
After Fulham[]
Wes signed with Crystal Palace shortly after his release from Fulham, and was sent out on various loans throughout his time there. Spells with non-league sides Bromley, Boreham Wood & Histon were completed before a notable loan spell with Swindon Town in 2011 and part of 2012. He managed a total of nine clean sheets, conceding only six goals, which prompted then-manager Paolo Di Canio to sign him on a permanent transfer in the January 2012 transfer window.
Wes became a mainstay in Swindon's next three seasons, with his performances alerting other clubs around the country. He eventually made the move up to Scotland, signing for Rangers who were then in the Scottish Championship. After helping them to promotion back to the Scottish Premier League, he stayed at Ibrox for a further four seasons, although he spent the last two years as second choice under Steven Gerrard, with the former-Liverpool man preferring Allan McGregor between the sticks.
His lack of playing time at Rangers led him to a move back to England, signing for Sheffield United in the Championship in July 2020. He enjoyed four seasons with the Yorkshire club which including one promotion to the Premier League, and left in the summer of 2024 to join West Ham United as a backup goalkeeper.
